Facilities
Maintain campuses, buildings and rooms, including capacity, opening hours, RFID readers, cohort tags and travel buffers used by the scheduler.
Facilities is the physical inventory behind timetabling and attendance. The page shows a tree of campuses, buildings and rooms that you can expand, collapse, and edit in place.
Campuses
Each campus has a name, an address, GPS coordinates and an IANA time zone. The time zone matters for institutions spread across regions: schedules and attendance logs are interpreted in the campus's local time.
Buildings
A building belongs to a campus and carries a weekly opening-hours schedule. The scheduler will not place a class outside the hours of the building that holds the room, so enter early closes (for example a shorter Friday) here rather than as a scheduling constraint.
Rooms
For each room record:
- Capacity. The scheduler never places a class whose enrollment exceeds it.
- Type and tags. Lecture room, computer lab, seminar room. Cohort tags let a room be preferred for a given student cohort or program.
- RFID reader ID. The identifier of the card reader at the door. Taps on that reader are matched to the class scheduled in the room at that time. See Attendance & RFID.
Rooms are grouped into room pools per study program in AI scheduling; the pool decides which rooms a program's classes may use.
Campus travel buffers
Campus Travel Buffers holds the minimum travel time, in minutes, between each pair of campuses. When a lecturer or cohort has consecutive classes on different campuses, the scheduler enforces at least this gap between them.
Editing
- Click Edit mode to make the tree editable.
- Change names, capacities or hours inline, or open a node to edit its full form.
- Click Save all. Nothing is written until you save; Cancel reverts.
Deleting a room that has schedules in a published term is blocked. Mark the room inactive instead so past schedules stay intact and the scheduler stops using it.
